Understanding Hair Mesotherapy
Hair mesotherapy is one of the most recognized and frequently performed clinical treatments for hair loss and hair strengthening. The core of the treatment involves injecting a specialized serum directly into the scalp.
The Procedure and a More Comfortable Experience
Before the main procedure begins, a preparatory step called hair thermotherapy is essential. This involves softening the hair and scalp with ozonized steam, followed by a special head massage. This process desensitizes the scalp, as it has been clinically proven that mesotherapy is more painful if thermotherapy is not performed beforehand. Following thermotherapy, the specialized serum is administered. This serum is a potent mixture containing vitamins and minerals naturally found in hair, keratolytic agents, minoxidil, a circulation booster, and a local anesthetic. It is loaded into a 'hair mesotherapy gun' which is often linked to a computer. This computerized system allows for precise control; when the trigger is pressed, it accurately determines the depth and amount of serum injected into the scalp. The computer manages the release of the serum as the needle enters, resides in, and exits the skin, ensuring even distribution across the entire treatment area at predetermined intervals. While hair mesotherapy can be performed manually, it is challenging to apply the serum with consistent equality across the scalp. For this reason, the computer-aided method is generally preferred for its precision and consistency.
Post-Treatment Care and Session Schedule
After the entire scalp has been treated, a special oil serum is applied. This helps to close the pores while sealing in the beneficial serum. Following the procedure, it is crucial for the patient not to wash, wet, or apply any other products or medications to their hair. This instruction also applies to any take-home haircare treatments provided. Hair mesotherapy is not a one-time treatment but is conducted over several sessions, each lasting approximately 40 minutes. A typical course involves an initial phase of four weekly sessions, followed by a second phase of four sessions performed every 15 days. It is important that the interval between the first four sessions does not exceed 11 days, and for the final four, it should not exceed 22 days. For maintenance, it is often recommended that hair mesotherapy be carried out twice a year, ideally during the seasonal changes in September-October and again in April-May. This is particularly beneficial for individuals who have had a hair transplant or are at a higher risk of hair loss. Some doctors may also advise their patients to undergo maintenance sessions on a monthly basis.
